Concordia University Wisconsin's Symphonic Wind Ensemble's seventh CD, "Symphonic Wind Ensemble Plays Holst, Mackey, Dawson and Reed," was finalized for digital distribution earlier this month.

The CD, which represents the third produced by the Symphonic Wind Ensemble that has gone digital and makes for a nice last-minute gift, is ready to be delivered to digital partners such as iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, YouTube and Amazon. “It’s great to have our Symphonic Wind Ensemble continue a tradition of being one of the few parochial and Lutheran collegiate ensembles that have contributed to the recording of classical, standard band literature recognized worldwide,” said Dr. Louis Menchaca, director. Mrs. Johanna Anderson serves as associate conductor of the ensemble.

“With digitization such as Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube, we can extend our mission of spreading the Gospel well beyond our own university,” added Menchaca, longtime music department chairman. The CD, recorded this fall in Concordia University Wisconsin’s Chapel of The Christ Triumphant, 12800 North Lake Shore Drive, Mequon, is priced at $11.97, and costs $9.99 to download.

Included among the 14 selections on the CD are:

  • “Stars and Stripes Forever”
  • “Gettysburg, The Third Day”
  • “Sheltering Sky”
  • Selections from the musical “Wicked”
  • Russian Christmas Music

Concordia University Wisconsin’s Symphonic Wind Ensemble is a premier, 60-piece, auditioned ensemble that will be traveling to the Tampa, Florida area in January during the university’s Winterim session, performing six concerts over eight days.
