Concordia University Wisconsin’s University Band and Jazz Ensemble will combine to perform a spring concert on Friday, April 7 in the university’s Chapel of the Christ Triumphant, 12800 North Lake Shore Drive, Mequon.
Dr. Louis A. Menchaca, currently in his 25th year as chair of Concordia’s music department, will direct the Jazz Ensemble in the 7:30 p.m. concert. Johanna Anderson will be directing the University Band.
Among the band selections will be: The Thunderer March, John Philip Sousa; The Hounds of Spring, Alfred Reed; Crown Him With Many Crowns: A Fanfare Prelude – James Swearingen; and Highlights from “Beauty and the Beast,” Alan Menken. Jazz selections include “Fool Me Once,” Dean Sorenson; “Opus One,” Sy Oliver and Sid Garris; “A Night in Havana,” Victor Lopez; and “Power to Spare,” Jeff Jarvis.
