Introducing the team that’s working hard to make the coming school year the best ever for CUW residents!

The start of the fall semester is nearly upon us, and that means the Residence Life crew is already hard at work. Resident Assistants (RAs) and Assistant Resident Directors (ARDs) —a team of more than 50 undergraduates—returned to campus this week to undergo extensive training for the semesters ahead.

Under the leadership of Director of Residence Life Beckie Kruse, the Res Life team is comprised of:

  • Resident Directors
  • Assistant Resident Directors
  • Resident Assistants
  • Alternate Resident Assistants
  • Auxiliary roles including AbleLight RAs and Faith Associates

Take a moment to get to know the leaders of our halls!

Kyle McCarragher • RD

If I’m not on campus, I can be found…frequenting Fiddleheads Coffee and Espresso Bar enjoying a well-crafted blended mocha while working on grad school work.

Something on my bucket list is…to see a Liverpool vs. Manchester City soccer game at Anfield (Liverpool’s home stadium in England).

A little known fact about me is…my “spirit vegetable” is a hatch green chile pepper (I just made this discovery only recently!).

Yannik Gruner (’23) • ARD • Coburg

If you see me on campus, you should ask me about…literally anything YOU would like to discuss! I love talking about politics, sports, and finance, but I am an open book. My experiences of being an international student tend to come up quite often too.

Something on my bucket list is…to take my family to see the northern lights in Iceland.

A little known fact about me is…I’ve lived in three different states since starting my journey in the US in 2016.

Abbie Becker (’23) • ARD • Augsburg

If I could pick a famous roommate, I’d pick…Martha Stewart. She seems like a cool lady and she’d always cook wonderful food items for me to try, so it would be a cook and roommate all in one!

Something on my bucket list is…to go skydiving! I think it would be so cool but I’m too scared to go quite yet.

If I am not on campus, I’m probably…on a bike ride somewhere around campus or in Mequon.

Augsburg RAs

Alexandros Alexiades, Drew Mickelson, London Kubisiak, Eleni Dalamangas, Katrina Erickson

Chemnitz

Liv Bloom • RD

If I could pick a famous roommate from TV, it would be…Paris Geller from Gilmore Girls. She is straight to the point, loyal to others and her work, and she isn’t afraid to give you a little push when necessary.

Something on my bucket list is…to go backpacking across Europe, just me and a backpack (and my husband).

If I’m not on campus, I might be…in Michigan hanging out with family (where I am originally from).

Lynnsey Thayer (’23) • ARD

If I’m not on campus, I can be found…at a coffee shop, probably, but not the same one each time because I really enjoy finding new ones.

If I could pick a famous roommate from TV, it would be…Jenna Fischer (aka Pam). She is really funny and I love The Office.

Something on my bucket list is…to go skydiving, preferably before I graduate but we will see!

Chemnitz RAs

Ben Groll, Gloria Maxson, Sam Meerstein, Sydney Lilienthal, Nicholas Klein, Brooke Braga, Joshua Peterson, Abigail Popp, Jordan Wright, Kathryn Ousdigian

Heidelberg & Wittenberg

Josh Warlick • RD

If I’m not on campus, I can be found…at a local game store playing games, camping, or watching basketball.

A little known fact about me is…that I accidentally agreed to put out a forest fire in Guatemala because I didn’t speak Spanish super well.

If I could pick a famous roommate from TV, it would be…Troy Barnes from Community. Things would never be dull and we could have a “dreamatorium.”

Paul Ball (’23) • ARD • Wittenberg & Heidelberg

A little known fact about me is…I am an Eagle Scout of the Boy Scouts of America.

If I’m not on campus, I can be found…spending time with family and friends.

A little known fact about me is…the second toe on my left foot is as short as the fourth toe.

If I could pick a famous roommate from TV, it would be…Winston Bishop from New Girl! He’s delightfully strange and makes anything fun and interesting.

Georgiana Isken (’23) • ARD • Wartburg & Katherine

If you see me on campus, you should ask me about…all of the adventures I went on while living in North Carolina.

If I’m not on campus, I can be found…visiting my family at home or out adventuring with my friends.
