Kim Masenthin

Assistant Vice President of Human Resources

How are you most likely to spend your free time?

Out “adventuring” with my husband and two sons. We love to be in nature and go “Up North” for the weekends in summer.

Who was most influential in your career choice?

My older brother. I followed in his footsteps to college and we both ended up with business degrees and in management positions.

Who was the first person (outside of your supervisor) to make you feel welcomed/“at home” at Concordia?

There are so many people over the years that have made me feel welcome. I think I would be amiss to give names, but I always feel like we are family! When I first started I was very connected to our Banner team and still have great connections to those on that team to this day. Concordia really is home.

What was your very first job?

I worked for McDonald’s in Grafton. I think I made like $5.10 per hour and I loved to work the cash register and drive-thru. I did not like the grill because it was so hot back there and sometimes the hot grill could burn you if you weren’t careful.

What would you choose to eat for your birthday meal?

Highland House or Mexican food without a doubt! 😊

What is a “first” you’ve experienced or undertaken within the past two years?

We added the Randall Ferguson Volunteer Time off Policy and the Paid Parental Leave Policy as of July 1 this year. These were great additions to our employee benefits and were fun to write up and get approvals on. 😊

What makes you/keeps you excited about your job at Concordia?

People keep me excited. Our employees who work so hard and show the love of Christ to our students and to each other. It excites me to be part of a team who serves each other in our community and beyond. It really is a special place to be at a Lutheran university and have opportunities to learn, grow, and be in the mission field here at home!
