Concordia University’s semiannual Leadership Series Breakfast on Thursday, October 19 will feature former Milwaukee Brewers’ star and successful businessman Sal Bando, along with Robin Yount. Bando will deliver his keynote presentation, “From World Series Champion to God’s Champion,” during the 7:30-9 a.m. event on the university’s main campus, 12800 North Lake Shore Drive, Mequon.

Bando played five seasons for the Brewers and was team captain after beginning his 15-year major league career with the Oakland Athletics in 1967. In 1981, he became the Brewers’ General Manager and Senior Vice President and served in their front office for eight years. While with Oakland, the team captain played a major role in the A’s winning three consecutive World Series titles from 1972 to 1974.

Actively involved in the local business community, Bando and former Milwaukee Bucks star, Jon McGlocklin, formed Bando-McGlocklin Capital Corporation. A Cleveland, Ohio native, Bando has served on the boards of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and The Veritas Society of Wisconsin Right to Life. He and his wife Sandy, along with Bud and Sue Selig, helped start the Child Abuse Prevention Fund. Bud Selig served as the ninth commissioner of Major League Baseball for 16 years.

The morning Q&A will also feature Hall of Famer Yount. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Milwaukee Brewers’ American League championship and only World Series appearance in franchise history, as well as the 45th anniversary of Bando’s first World Series title with Oakland.

Individual tickets cost $25, with corporate sponsorships including a table of eight and company name in the program available for $200. Supporting sponsorships of $1,000 are also available, which include two tables of eight, preferred seating and a company logo table sign.
