Thanks to Concordia's Student Government Association, Concordians can now make use of a new outdoor basketball court.

Hey Concordians, it’s game time!

CUW now has a new outdoor basketball court for student’s recreational use thanks to the Student Government Association, specifically SGA President Megan Schmitz, who has been a champion of the project from the start. The court is located on the north side of campus, just west of the Catalyst Sports Training Center.

SGA partnered with Sport Court Wisconsin for the project. Construction wrapped up this week and the court is now officially open for play. There’s no need for reservations. Just bring your own ball. Playground sportsmanship rules apply.

Schmitz says the impetus for the project came from a desire to give the student body a recreational space that wouldn’t interfere with the athletics schedule. SGA Vice President Ryan Krueger initially posed the idea to the group, noting the scheduling complexities with CUW’s Field House. With more than 25 percent of CUW’s undergraduate population enrolled in a sports program, the university’s facilities are stretched thin.

“We’re excited to bring an additional opportunity for fitness and fun to students at Concordia,” says Krueger. “Whole body wellness is something that we talk about a lot at CUW and I think the more opportunities we can provide for that, the better.”

Grand Opening

On Friday, Sept. 17 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., CUW students are invited to check out the court and enjoy some snacks, courtesy of SGA. Click here for more event details.
