Our “Quick Questions with Concordians” series continues with a visit with Admissions. Assistant Vice President of Admission Robert Nowak has been helping bring incredible students to CUW for almost 15 years. He describes the culture on his team as a “mini-Disney” type of environment, meaning, “We care for the whole person and treat each other like family, so naturally that extends to our visitors as they consider attending Concordia.”

How are you most likely spending your free time away from work?
When I’m not coaching or watching one of my boys’ sports, I would be working outside in the yard or building something in the wood shop.
What was your very first job?
Working at a golf course cutting greens and being a caddy. It will also be my last job when I retire.
Name the most famous person you’ve met.
Mickey Mouse. I don’t get out much. 😉
What’s one thing on your Bucket List?
To fly in a fighter jet or with the Blue Angels.
Favorite Ann Arbor/Milwaukee-area dining spot.
MANI Osteria in Ann Arbor and Farmstead near CUW.
Best thing about the Ann Arbor/Mequon campus.
Green space on campus is amazing. Its wide-open spaces and beautiful landscape give you plenty to see, smell, and feel as you walk across either campus.
Favorite “fun fact” or little-known fact about CUW or CUAA.
Perhaps the most fun for me is still the hidden billiards room in the Earnhardt Manor. There also used to be a tunnel (or so I was told) that went from that room down to the river
What is it that keeps you excited about your job as you look ahead to the 2022-23 academic year?
Watching people grow in their vocation and studies always excites me, so as we welcome new staff and faculty members start their careers, high school students stepping away from home for the first time, adults returning to the classroom, or those furthering their graduate-level studies … it breathes life into the world in such a positive and exciting way. God is busy here doing great things!
