Since the start of Dr. Ferry's presidency in 1997, not a year has gone by without a new project, new program, or new initiative launched to improve our university and expand its missional reach throughout the world.


From a major bluff restoration project to new residence halls, our campus has undergone a deep metamorphosis over the past 24 years. Keep reading to learn about some of the most notable endeavors during President Ferry’s tenure.

1990s

Regents Hall

1997—East Wing of First Floor Luther remodeled

1999—Mail/Print Center in Stuenkel Hall built

1999—Regents Hall opened

1999—”Concordia in the City” initiative for Adult Learning Centers launched


2000s

President George W. Bush

2001—Wooden floor replaced in Field House

2001-04—Rincker Library remodeled

2002—First doctoral offering launched, the Doctor of Physical Therapy

2002—Sports & Fitness complex added to the Field House

2003—Luther Administrative entrance remodeled

2004—E-learning format piloted for select undergraduate classes

Bluff

2004—Siebert Dining Hall remodeled

2004—US President George W. Bush served as commencement keynote

2005—40 acres south of Highland Road purchased from the School Sisters of Notre Dame

2005-07—Bluff stabilization project undertaken

2006—Remodel of second-level Luther offices and lower and first-level Albrecht for Student Service offices

Coburg Hall

2008—Coburg Hall dedicated

2008—Total enrollment reached 6,000

2008—Purchased President’s home and four acres at 13218 N. Lake Shore Drive. Home was razed in 2014.

2008—Fitting Field dedicated

2008—Hank Aarons delivered commencement keynote

2009—Launched first cohort of Doctor of Nurse Practitioner (DNP) students


2010s

School of Pharmacy

2010—Broke ground on the School of Pharmacy

2010—President’s Courtyard re-landscaped to include water feature, pergola, and paths

2010—Concordia Center for Environmental Stewardship dedicated

2011—Chapel renovated

2011—School of Pharmacy dedicated

2011—Doctor of Pharmacy program launched

Kapco Field

2012—Online, Continuing and Distance Education expanded to include 10 employees; operations moved off campus to Glen Oaks building

2012—Kapco Field dedicated

2012—Albrecht Hall remodeled into Student Union

2013—Concordia University Wisconsin merged with Concordia University Ann Arbor

2013—95,000 square-foot Chemnitz Hall dedicated

Luther statue

2014—Tennis courts built

2014—Post-Professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy program launched. First entry-level OTD cohort launched January 2020 and post-professional OTD was dissolved.

2014—Total enrollment reached 8,000

2014—Concordia hired nation’s first full-time comfort dog as resource for students

2015—Veteran Services department established

Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center

2016—”Young Luther” statue dedicated

2018—Catalyst Sports Training Center dedicated

2018—Doctorate of Education of Leadership in Innovation and Continuous Improvement (EdD LICI) announced

2019—Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center dedicated


2020s

2020—Face-to-face classes temporarily moved online due to the COVID-19 pandemic

2020—Doctor of Business Administration program, Concordia’s sixth doctorate offering, announced
