School of Pharmacy Welcomes Walgreens President

“We hire the best and our customers know that,” Dr. Richard Ashworth, President, Pharmacy and Retail Operations at Walgreens, Co.

On Friday, September 25, 2015, Dr. Richard Ashworth, President, Pharmacy and Retail Operations at Walgreens, Co., spent the day with our pharmacy leadership and students before recognizing the 2019 Doctor of Pharmacy Class at the annual White Coat Ceremony held at the Milwaukee Theatre in downtown Milwaukee.

A total of 104 students took the Oath of the Pharmacist before receiving their personalized embroidered white coat sponsored by Walgreens. As family, friends and faculty cheered them on, these students solemnly promised to devote themselves to a lifetime of service to others through the profession of pharmacy.

CUW Pharmacy graduates are recognized in the industry for being well-prepared. 22% of our graduates are placed in Walgreens locations throughout the country and Dr. Ashworth would like to see that number grow.  “We don’t just want the smartest people in the industry, we want innovators who have been wholly prepared to lead a successful business and provide impactful care to our patients,” said Dr. Ashworth during a conversation with the executive committee of Concordia University’s School of Pharmacy. He went on to praise Concordia for emphasizing servant leadership and business acumen in the already rigorous pharmacy curriculum.
