Cherie Burbach

Concordia University student and Wisconsin artist Cherie Burbach is being celebrated in Urban Milwaukee for her vibrant creative work through a special yearlong exhibit at the university titled “Better Together: One Faith, Many Cultures.”

The collection, located just outside the CUW bookstore, highlights seven mixed-media pieces that reflect themes of diversity, belonging and faithful community. Her work expresses a desire to offer hope and encouragement. She also writes poetry and other creative works.

“The pieces Concordia selected were inspired by the many people I encountered growing up in Milwaukee. Each one reflects elements of faith, community, and belonging,” Burbach said.

Urban Milwaukee is an online daily founded in 2008 by Jeramey Jannene and Dave Reid. It has been edited by former Milwaukee Magazine editor Bruce Murphy since 2012. The publication covers real estate, politics, arts and entertainment, and food and drink news.

Note: Cherie Burbach’s last name may sound familiar because her husband, Andrew Burbach, works at Concordia as the project manager in the Department of Marketing and Communications.
