An evening of culture, creativity and community celebrating the diverse voices and traditions that enrich Concordia.

On Feb. 26, Concordia University Wisconsin’s Terrace Room came alive during UNIDOS: A Heritage Celebration, an evening highlighting the cultures and traditions that make up the Concordia community.

“Unidos,” the Spanish word for unity, captured the spirit of the event as students, faculty and staff gathered to experience music, fashion, poetry and food representing cultures from around the world. The celebration created a welcoming space where attendees could share their heritage, learn from one another and experience the richness of global traditions together.

The program featured performances that showcased creative expression and personal storytelling. Music energized the room, while poetry offered thoughtful reflections on identity, culture and belonging. A fashion showcase highlighted traditional attire and cultural styles, giving participants an opportunity to visually share pieces of their heritage.

Beyond the performance

The evening fostered connection and conversation between guests as they enjoyed food and spending time with classmates, colleagues and new friends. This night reinforced the event’s message that diversity strengthens community.

UNIDOS was made possible through collaboration among several campus organizations, including the Black Student Union, Latino Student Union, Joyful Noise and Student Life, along with additional campus partners who contributed their time and talents to the celebration.

Events like UNIDOS reflect Concordia’s commitment to creating spaces where culture, creativity and community can thrive. By bringing people together through shared experiences and storytelling, the Heritage Celebration highlighted the value of learning from one another and celebrating the diverse voices that enrich campus life.

Below are highlights from the evening that capture the energy and connection of this year’s Heritage Celebration.

“We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, His power, and the wonders He has done.” — Psalm 78:4
