2021 CUW Student Workers of the Year

Congratulations to Madison Stranczak, Joseph Bender, Elaine Ngo, Madelyne Arrigoni, and Cristina Stinson for their outstanding contributions to Concordia University Wisconsin.


April 12-16 is National Student Worker Appreciation Week, when we take time out to express appreciation for all of our valuable student workers. We feel incredibly blessed and grateful to have what we believe is the best student workforce around!

We also recognize that there are some students who go above and beyond to exemplify outstanding work ethic and servant leadership. These Student Workers of the Year are nominated by our staff and faculty and selected from approximately 800 employees. The qualifications to be nominated include:

  • Exemplifies a strong, Christ-like character
  • Shows enthusiasm, dedication, initiative, and reliability in service to their department
  • Performs excellent work
  • Willingly goes above and beyond expectations
  • Has a mind-set of service to others

Elaine NgoElaine Ngo, International Center

Nominated by Kelsey Marquardt:
“Elaine is an exemplary employee (arrives on time, focused, capable), but she also does everything with a wonderful sense of humor and care. In addition, she is engaged in other offerings of the International Center before and during her employment! Before being hired, she was attending CIC events and activities, volunteered during our Lunar New Year celebration, and joined culture clubs on campus. She is truly entwined with the CIC and Concordia, and brings joy with her wherever she goes!”

 

Cristina StinsonCristina Stinson, Study Abroad

“Cristina is a fantastic employee who participates in mission trips, Korean Club, values her academic success and is a leader for the women’s volleyball team. She does all of this with grace and attention to detail and is always willing to take on extra tasks or go above and beyond for another student. Cristina’s goal in life is to make a difference in the world, as CUW’s mission shows. … She truly deserves to be recognized for her contributions to our office and CUW as a whole.”

 

Madelyne ArrigoniMadelyne Arrigoni, Strategic Communications

Michel: “Madelyne just started out as a student writer for our department. In her two years with us she has grown into much more! … Madelyne is a true joy to work with, and will be deeply missed when she graduates.”

Thiel: “She keeps our team connected to the student voice/experience, and helps us find stories that are most meaningful to students. I’m incredibly proud of the work she has done on behalf of our department, and it makes me even happier to know that she is growing skills for her future career.”

 

Madison StanczakMadison Stanczak, Pharmacy Lab

Nominated by Dr. Elizabeth Buckley and Dr. Francesca Napolitano

Buckley: “Madi is a role model for student instruction in the APC lab.  She is student-centered, excellent at leading discussions, and engaged with the teaching and learning content within the course. …  She is also a humble and kind person who exemplifies how to handle challenges with grace.”

Napolitano: “What is most impressive is her desire to better herself and better serve others by consistently seeking feedback. She will often ask me what she can do better as a TA and even identify ways to improve current processes or content and ask me if she can give it a try.”

 

Joseph BenderJoseph Bender, Campus Ministry

Nominated by Pastor Doug Bender:
“Joseph embodies our mission in campus ministry—to connect others in the faith and life of Concordia, through meaningful relationships and great care and service to others. He serves diligently as our student worker, coordinating and organizing many details and even goes beyond his assigned duties to assist other departments where and when he can. In addition, Joseph also serves as one of our resident Faith Associates in Heidelberg Hall. His presence is felt by many students around him, and he brings a positive, winsome reflection of the love of God to the students on his floor.”
