A musical tribute to Frank Sinatra and selections from the Broadway musical “Hamilton” will highlight this fall’s annual Pops Concert on Friday, November 3 at 7:30 p.m. The Symphonic Wind, Jazz and String Ensembles, along with the University Band, will perform in The Chapel of the Christ Triumphant on the university’s main campus, 12800 North Lake Shore Drive.
Adult tickets are available at the door for $8, with those 17 and under admitted free.
The 90-minute concert will blend an assortment of jazz, show and movie tunes, along with a new arrangement by Dr. Louis Menchaca, music department chairman the past 25 years. His combo, Lou’s Jazz Express, will also perform.
In addition to the music from Hamilton, which won 11 Tony Awards in 2016, selections from Disney’s fantasy/animated movie “Moana,” will also be featured. “You can hear part of the score from Hamilton before it plays in Milwaukee next year,” quipped Menchaca.
