The University is proud to announce that Austin Damaschke, CUW’s quarterback, has been named by Fidelity Investments as one of the 2014 winners of the Football Founders National Scholar-Athlete Award.
The award honors student-athlete performance on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. Other winners who received the award this year are from universities that include Duke, Arizona State, Stanford, Yale, Michigan State, Northwestern, and others.
“We have been blessed to have Austin as our quarterback and team leader for the past four years,” said Dr. Rob Barnhill, athletic director at CUW. “On the field he has rewritten the record books and off the field he has been a young man that exemplifies integrity, character, and academic success.”
Damaschke set numerous Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference and CUW single-game records this year. Last year, several NFL scouts were on CUW’s campus to talk with Damaschke’s and check out his abilities.
