The director of the Concordia Free Enterprise Center, Scott Niederjohn, PhD, was recognized at this year’s Association of Private Enterprise Education (APEE) Conference in Las Vegas.

Niederjohn co-authored the paper “How Jackie Robinson and Adam Smith Worked Together to Desegregate Major League Baseball: An Educational Note” that received  the “Best Paper in the Journal of Private Enterprise” recognition. The paper was one of many papers that were in contention for the award.

His co-authors are Dr. Mark Schug, Emeritus Professor at UW-Milwaukee and Affiliated Scholar with Concordia’s Free Enterprise Center, and Dr. William Wood, Professor of Economics at James Madison University and Affiliated Scholar with the CUW Free Enterprise Center.

Niederjohn joined Concordia’s faculty in 2021. He leads the Concordia Free Enterprise Center and serves as a professor of economics within Concordia’s Batterman School of Business. He is often sought out by the media and other academic organizations for his expertise on economics, inflation, and worker shortages.
