On Sunday, April 23rd, over 40 Concordia students hosted the 2nd annual Mind-Body-Spirit Health and Wellness Fair. The event was attended by over 200 CUW students and community members.
Attendees engaged in, and learned about, diabetes management, mental health, opioid awareness, smoking and tobacco cessation (through our Tobacco Free/SPARK initiative), nutrition, cholesterol and lipid disorders, and kidney disease (among many other topics). The wellness fair was organized by Ellie Blaczyk and Kelly Rodriguez, second year pharmacy students, who did a tremendous job with logistics, planning and student recrutiment – they also brought in Nursing and Athletic Training students from CUW, making this a truly interprofessional event.
President Ferry and his wife, Dr. Tammy Ferry, helped to conclude the event by providing a Devotion and closing remarks. This annual wellness fair truly exemplifies Concordia’s Mission, especially as it pertains to the health and well being of our students, the local community, and ultimately the patients and families our health and social care students will serve after they graduate.
Students and faculty interested in planning the 3rd annual Mind-Body-Spirit Health and Wellness Fair (its never to early!) can contact Michael Oldani in the Office of IPE @ CUW (michael.oldani@cuw.edu).
