Concordia University Wisconsin is celebrating almost 900 students as they graduate on May 3-4. Here is what you need to know about the weekend festivities.


Graduate Student Commencement Ceremony

Tickets are required for both the graduate student and undergraduate student commencement ceremonies. Each graduate can request up to a total of six tickets, which are free. For details regarding how to secure your tickets, please visit here.

For those unable to attend in person, all three ceremonies will also be livestreamed, beginning five minutes before the start of the ceremony:


Speakers:

Commencement Speaker (both ceremonies): Martin J. Schreiber, JD

Former Wisconsin Governor Martin J. Schreiber is an award-winning crusader for Alzheimer’s caregivers and persons with dementia. His speaking tour takes him around the country, while his book, My Two Elaines: Learning, Coping, and Surviving as an Alzheimer’s Caregiver, was rated as the No. 11 “Best Alzheimer’s Book of All Time” by bookauthority.org.

Schreiber’s work on behalf of older citizens goes back decades to his 16 years in public service as a state senator, lieutenant governor and governor. He attended Valparaiso University in Indiana and the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, and earned a doctorate of law from Marquette University in Milwaukee.

Marty and his wife Elaine, who died in 2022, are the parents of four children: Kathryn Lyon, Martin Schreiber, Kristine Haas, and Matt Schreiber. They have thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Student Speaker (graduate ceremony): Amanda Hudson

Amanda Hudson, from Hayward, WI, will be awarded a Master of Social Work degree.

Student Speaker (undergraduate ceremony): Yushin Kim

Yushin Kim, hailing from Seoul, South Korea, will be earning a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. Excitingly, he will be continuing his education at Yale in the fall!
