Kammerchor, Concordia University Wisconsin’s select touring choir, will cap its annual spring tour with a home concert Sunday, March 26 in the Chapel of the Christ Triumphant, 12800 North Lake Shore Drive, Mequon.
The 31-voice choir will perform both accompanied and unaccompanied choral pieces in a variety of musical styles from the 1500s to the present, including Benjamin Britten’s Festival Te Deum, as well as works by Aaron Copland, William Byrd and John Rutter.
Admission to the 3:30 pm concert is $8 for adults, and FREE for individuals 17 and under.
Kammerchor was established as the university’s touring choir in 1981, and has traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Brazil, Great Britain, China, Italy, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Their upcoming tour includes concerts in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.
Dr. Alexa Doebele, an associate professor of music, conducts not only Kammerchor, but Selah and a mixed Chapel Choir as well. A frequent guest conductor and clinician, she currently sings with Vox Antiqua, a Milwaukee early music ensemble.
