Soles for Jesus, Inc. featured our own Randy Ferguson as their October "Volunteer of the Month."
Here is what they included in their October newsletter:
We are thrilled to honor Randall Ferguson as our Volunteer of the Month for October! Randall organizes shoe drives at Concordia University, where he is a teacher, and brings student groups in to volunteer at SOS events. Randall learned about SFJ when Mark (from our staff) spoke to his class and shared about the ministry. What caught Randall’s attention was the focus that SFJ puts on sharing the Gospel.
“I am sooooooooooooo impressed by SFJ’s laser sharp focus on WHY this ministry is so important – the cross of Jesus Christ! They supply much needed shoes to those in desperation AND share the life-changing news of our Savior. The shoes kick open the door to talk about what really matters, thus giving the Holy Spirit an opportunity to do His thing,” Randall shared.
Randall is passionate about serving and it shows in his advice about getting involved. “If you host a drive, you will be surprised by the outpouring of generosity. People want to help. People want to make a difference. Sometimes they just need a specific cause and a tangible way to give. And be sure to lift up the cross of Christ that is behind all this good will. This is why we serve. This is why we love our neighbor on the other side of the world. Because HE first loved us! Sign-up to take a group to the warehouse to sort shoes and witness first-hand what a powerful ministry this is. You will be changed, and you will help change the world around you. A pair of shoes seems like such a simple thing, but I am reminded of what Teresa of Lisieux said so many centuries ago: ‘It’s not so much that God asks us to do great things, but rather He calls us to do small things with great love.’ Whenever I volunteer at the warehouse I am re-affirmed in my faith that the body of Christ is alive and well, even in this age that is so cluttered by humanism and materialism.”
Randall and his wife, Sandy, have two adorable miniature Aussie-Doodles that run the home now that they’re empty nesters. Randall is looking forward to retiring in a few years so he can travel more and devote more time to helping those in need. Thank you, Randall, for passionately serving God’s people and being the hands and feet of Jesus. We’re so grateful for you and pray God’s blessings over you and your family.
Volunteer of the Month, Randall Ferguson!
