Nine members of CUW's Field Hockey team used their active rest day on Tuesday to scoop up trash on and around campus.

As the team bonded they also picked up a winter’s worth of debris exposed by the melted snow.

Freshman Renee Lund first proposed the idea to her teammates after filling a bag of trash on her afternoon walk the day before.

“I thought that if I could do that in less than 30 minutes, imagine what our team could do in an afternoon,” said Lund.

The team is well-known for being service-minded. Over Christmas they volunteered with the local “Shop with a Cop” organization and helped wrap presents for underprivileged children.

The team is midway through the season. Please visit here to cheer them on.
