A Respite Event on Concordia UniversityA Respite Event on Concordia University

65 children with special needs are expected at Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the annual Respite Event. Hosted by CUW’s School of Nursing, this highly anticipated, free event entertains children with special needs in a safe, supervised environment so their parents and caregivers can enjoy a much needed day of rest.

“An event like this offers parents of children with special needs an opportunity to recharge and focus on themselves and their own needs for a day,” said Dr. Jill Krell, DNP, event organizer and assistant professor in CUW’s School of Nursing.

CUW students of many areas of study are volunteering their time to be with the children. Activities throughout the day include crafts, games, playtime in the fieldhouse, and snacks.

This event is a combined effort of Children’s Service Society of Wisconsin (CSSW) and CUW.

The Respite will be held in CUW’s Field House, 12800 North Lake Shore Drive, Mequon from 8:15 a.m. – 2 p.m.
