Congratulations to CUW’s March Students of the Month, Madison Scheer and Asia Nelson!

CUW is pleased to honor two outstanding students every month, one undergraduate student and one graduate student, as students of the month. Congrats to Maddie and Asia!

Undergraduate Student of the Month

The CUW Faculty have selected Madison E. Scheer as the Undergraduate Student of the Month for March. Madison is a senior psychology major and business minor. Maddie is an excellent student who works hard and embodies CUW’s mission of developing in mind, body, and spirit for Christian service. She is a member of Psi Chi, The International Honor Society in Psychology. She shares productive comments and insights in the classroom that enhance the learning experience for all, as well as completes high quality assignments. Maddie assisted in various capacities at Advocates of Ozaukee County during her practicum serving adults and children in need. In addition, her senior research project explored the impact of parenting styles on college student mental health. One thing that makes Maddie stand out is her commitment to professional development. Over the course of her CUW education, she has grown tremendously with respect her academic skills, psychology knowledge, and self-confidence. She integrates her Christian faith in the classroom and out in the world serving others!

Madison was nominated by Dr. Rachel Pickett on behalf of the psychology faculty.

Graduate Student of the Month

The CUW Faculty have selected Asia Nelson as the Graduate Student of the Month for March. Asia is a Master of Social Work student. She radiates the light of Christ to everyone she encounters. Asia serves as a social worker at a Christian K-12 school in Milwaukee. She takes the time to remember details about her students’ lives, fostering a sense of belonging and inviting them to experience the Kingdom of God here on earth. She allows her faith to shape her practice, always standing up for what is right. She works with students who have been ostracized or marginalized by family and society—welcoming them with the love and compassion of Christ while calling them to holiness. Asia is also completing her second MSW field placement at a Milwaukee domestic violence shelter. In addition, she engages fully in her coursework and demonstrates academic excellence.

Asia was nominated by Dr. Sara Casali.
