“It was Ellis’ vision and dream to create a program that emphasizes rigor in the craft of business, while building on our Christ-centered mission,” says Dr. Daniel Sem, dean of the Batterman School of Business.  “I know he would be proud to see how his dream has grown to now over 50 students.”

Inductees took an oath and received their coveted jackets at a ceremony in the Chapel of Christ Triumphant. The jackets have a deeply symbolic crest that was designed by former Business Scholars to represent the values of Concordia University.

The notable features of the crest include:

  • A cross
  • Olive branches
  • Gold coin
  • Hands shaking
  • Planet

“When our scholars wear the jacket they are representing our school in the Church and in the world,” says Sem. “They are indicating their commitment to behave as ethical and Christ-centered business leaders.”
