All student ensembles will be featured in the Music Department's annual Sampler Concert on Friday, October 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the university's Chapel of The Christ Triumphant, 12800 North Lake Shore Drive, Mequon.


“This is a unique event, in that every group performs a couple of pieces,” said longtime Music Department Chairman Dr. Louis A. Menchaca. “It is not a repertoire concert, but more of a preview of the upcoming season,” added Menchaca.

Ensembles showcasing their hard work during the first six weeks of the semester are: Jazz Ensemble, Dr. Louis Menchaca, director; Wind Ensemble, Dr. Louis Menchaca, director; String Ensemble, Dr. Louis Menchaca, director, Kammerchor, Dr. Alexa Doebele, conductor; Alleluia Ringers, Prof. Mark Bloedow, conductor; Chapel Ringers, Prof. Mark Bloedow, conductor; Selah, Dr. Alexa Doebele, conductor, and the University Band, Mrs. Johanna Anderson, director..

Adult tickets cost $8, while youths 17 and under are free.

Other fall concerts include:

Pops Concert, Friday, October 18, 7:30 p.m. Chapel. This concert will feature a number of familiar favorites by the Symphonic Wind, Symphonic String and Symphonic Jazz Ensembles, along with the University Band. Tickets are $8 for adults; free for youths 17 and under.

Civic Chorale, Alleluia Ringers and Chapel Ringers, Saturday, November 9, 3:30 p.m. Chapel. Adult tickets – $8, youths 17 and under are free.

“Christ the King” Celebration, Sunday, November 18, 3:30 p.m. Chapel. This 36th annual celebration marks the last Sunday of the church year.  Adult tickets are $8; free for youths 17 and under.

“Christmas at Concordia,” Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7, 7:30 p.m. Chapel. Adult tickets are $20 but are free for youths 17 and under, although everyone attending must have a ticket. Tickets must be purchased in advance by calling 262-243-4243 or e-mailing kelsey.flath@cuw.edu. They will be held at a will-call table in front of chapel and are available one hour before the performances.
