Albert J. Amling Concordia University Wisconsin alumnus Albert J. Amling has been named the 2016 Lutheran Educator Association Distinguished Lutheran Elementary Administrator.
Amling is one of two Concordia University Wisconsin alumni to receive an LEA award this year. Eva Fronk, who attained her colloquy through CUW, also received the 2016 Distinguished Retired Lutheran Educator “EncourAGING” award.
The LEA awards are presented annually to educators who have made significant contributions to Lutheran education, according to an LEA press release.
Amling currently serves as Superintendent of Schools at Hales Corners Lutheran Schools in Hales Corners, Wis. He earned his M.S. in education from Concordia University Wisconsin and a B.S. in Education from Concordia University-Nebraska.
He has been a Lutheran school administrator for 31 years, having served schools in Nebraska, California, and various locations in Wisconsin. He has served in many leadership and service positions in Lutheran education through LEA, LCMS English District, and LCMS School Ministry.
In support of his nomination, Amling’s pastor wrote, “Albert Amling is … a man of God who loves the teachers, administrators, students, and families who serve alongside him … and he is a fantastic servant leader. He is a strong, but fair, patient and wise leader of his faculty and staff. He has led us…toward passionate fulfillment of the Great Commission.”
Fronk, also from Hales Corners, received her LCMS Colloquy through CUW, a Masters of Educational Administration from University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and a B.S. in elementary education from Arcadia University, Glenside, Penn.
Previous honors include Lifetime Ministry Service Award and Lumen Christi Award for Excellence in Administration from the LCMS English District.
Fronk served in Lutheran education 32 years before “retiring” in 2008. During most of those years, she served as teacher or principal at Hales Corners Lutheran Elementary School. Since her retirement, she has served as interim principal at schools in Pennsylvania, Nevada, and California. She also has served and continues to serve schools and congregations at the regional and national level.
One individual who nominated Fronk explained, “Eva is an encourager. She loves Lutheran education, and loves Lutheran educators. She’ll do anything she can to offer her wisdom to support another worker. She continues to volunteer her services on the National Lutheran School Accreditation Commission, and willingly serves as a consultant or a visiting team member.”
