A CUW Computer Science professor speaks to The National and offers insights on the AI debate.
Artificial Intelligence, with its wide-reaching applications, was the hot topic of 2023. And in 2024, the debate over its use and potential misuses doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.
Concordia University Wisconsin Associate Professor of Computer Science Bob Wahl, PhD, offered his expertise on the subject for “NPodcasts,” a production of the Middle Eastern news source The National.
The podcast episode dropped Jan. 17, 2024. Along with Wahl, it includes an interview with Renee McGowan, Chief Executive of Marsh McLennan’s India and Middle East and Africa branches.
“There’s always abuse for any new technology out there,” Wahl told podcast host Cody Combs. “The people who don’t have the right ethical background are going to misuse the technology. That’s going to happen. It’s inevitable.”
However, Wahl went on to explain that the fears might be outweighed by AI’s benefits.
