The Center for Environmental Stewardship is receiving a $50,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation. The CCES, which is set to open in 2010, will educate K-12 students by offering programs in fresh water ecosystems, wind turbine and solar energy, and conservation. Activities for the students will take place both on CUW’s Mequon campus and off site.
The money being awarded will cover the costs of some of the equipment necessary to run the CCES program during the 2010-11 academic year for approximately 1,000 students. Much of the equipment will be interactive and allow students to get hands-on experience with alternative energies not previously available.
