Concordia students spend their Easter Break going home, resting, seeing loved ones, and celebrating the resurrection of our Lord, but also sometimes reflecting on their passions.

Devin Horner’s break fits into the former, focusing on rest and recuperation, but Aimee Zarder’s passion is music, and she was able to use the break time for that passion in a memorable way.

Horner took a slower approach to his long weekend, returning to his hometown of Sheboygan and starting back at work on his first day off.

Though his break didn’t start as relaxing as he had planned, he spent the rest of the break catching up with old friends who also came home for the break and revisiting his favorite places in his hometown.

“It was just nice to reconnect,” Horner said, “We hadn’t hung out in a bit, so it was good to catch up.”

On Easter, Horner had a traditional, Catholic Easter Sunday, as he hosted his family lunch and attended sunset mass.

“It was a three-hour service, with baptisms and caticumiuns and even live translations to Spanish,” Horner said. “It was cool, but a lot.”

Zarder, an artist and actor, was excited to use her break to focus on her passion for music.

She began her Easter break strong, with a spontaneous concert and a mini-trip to her favorite city, Chicago.

Zarder spent the remainder of the weekend rehearsing music for her upcoming concert, which she is excited about but also nervous, as she adds her first solo song to her setlist.

“I literally made a change to my setlist yesterday,” Zarder adds, “I don’t even know the words to my own song.”

Zarder, still riding the high of the prior night’s concert, decided to take Saturday slower as she participated in her family’s annual Easter tradition of food and board game day.

Whether it means rehearsing music or spending time with family and friends, Easter break was a great time to reflect on what one is grateful for and to look forward to the exciting future, whether that be a concert or just spending time with loved ones.
