Rise and Shine

As of 2025, Rise and Shine Music Series, Inc. has become its own local nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring everyone in the community together for worship and fellowship—sharing in the joy that Christian music emanates.

“This year, we’re thrilled to welcome you to our new location—nestled in the heart of Mequon and Thiensville’s City Center—at the FoxYard at Foxtown Station featuring Danny Gokey! We have sold out at 1,500, but we are still taking signups on the waitlist, as we are optimistic we can add everyone in!” says Lori Lorenz, a founding Rise and Shine board member.

As a Devoted Partner, Concordia University Wisconsin will have a booth at the event run by CUW’s Vice President of Enrollment and Marketing Dr. Michael Uden.

“Concordia seeks to serve Christ in the Church and the world—and that absolutely includes our local community of Mequon-Thiensville and greater Milwaukee. Events like Rise and Shine proclaim Jesus and His love, and it is CUW’s honor to support that,” says Uden.

Stop by the booth to obtain information on Concordia’s continuing education programs and strategic partnerships. Uden will be there ready to speak with the local community, and of course, to proudly handout free Concordia swag.

Lorenz emphasizes her appreciation for this array of community support and says, “We could not do it without our amazing sponsors this year that has allowed us to bring this concert to our community free of charge!”

Country in The Burg

Country in The Burg, located in the heart of Cedarburg, Wis., at Cedar Creek Park. Featuring some of the biggest names in country music, this two-day festival will be held on August 22-23. This year’s lineup includes country music artists such as headliner Kip Moore—who was there for the 2019 launch of the festival—headliner Brothers Osborne, Randy Houser, Morgan Evans, Drake White, Travis Denning, and Emily Ann Roberts.

Partner and creator of Country in The Burg, Alex Uhan was a CUW assistant coach from 2013 to 2016. He says that the festival is “all about giving back to multiple charities like Children’s Hospital, Mel’s Charities, the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, and many more!” According to him, Concordia is all about the experience—one that allows students to find their path in schooling and in life. Similarly, with Country in The Burg, it’s all about giving an amazing experience that fans will remember for years to come.

As a Silver Sponsor, CUW’s Office of Marketing and Communications would like to invite everyone to be a part of the ticket giveaways on July 22 through Concordia’s Instagram and Facebook accounts. We are giving away several prize packages that include PIT and/or General Admission tickets for either Friday or Saturday.
