Castillo and Pierre are CUW’s September students of the month

The CUW Faculty have selected Giannina C. Castillo as the Undergraduate Student of the Month for September. Giannina is a senior Biochemistry major. She has an outstanding academic record. In addition to her classroom studies, she is currently conducting research in the pharmacy lab under the direction of Dr. Terry Reid centering on tissue culture and medicinal chemistry. She is also the co-president of the CUW STEM club. Outside of the university, she is a hospice volunteer and works as a certified pharmacy technician for Walmart. These varied activities demonstrate her commitment to growing in mind, body, and spirit.

The CUW Faculty have selected Deborah Frances Pierre as the Graduate Student of the Month for September. Frances is a Doctor of Education student in the LICI program (Leadership in Innovation and Continuous Improvement). She is a wonderful student, scholar, and human being. Her research ability is top-notch, and her dissertation literature review is among the best her dissertation chair has ever reviewed. She lives her faith each day as a special education administrator in the New York Public School system. She supports early childhood programs with students with disabilities. She assists program leaders in training their classroom teachers and assisting families with children with disabilities in transitioning into kindergarten. In her work and life, she always shows Christian values by giving grace to people without judgement. Frances is always a source of help for those in need. She’s always professional but caring.
