Join us September 16-21 for a full week of training and educational events to help us all better recognize, understand, and assist those in our community dealing with mental health issues.

It’s no secret that our country seems to be in the throes of a mental health crisis–especially among young people. That’s why educating and equipping our campus community is so essential. And why Mental Health Awareness is so important.

How important? Just read this quote from a student who took part in last year’s events at CUW:

I would recommend attending the mental health week events to any Concordia students because even if a student is not struggling with mental health issues, students can be an advocate to those around them who may need help. Students who attend these events can learn how to be a resource to others who are going through tough times and what they can do if someone is in danger.

Additionally, the events I attended strongly aligned with Christian faith values and revealed the relationships between trusting in God and having a strong mental health.

This year’s events include training sessions for the Green Bandana Project, a nationwide initiative to help train students and others to be available to help–and to make their presence within the community known.

Keep reading to learn more about the green bandanas and all the other exciting events taking place on campus September 16-21!

Training Sessions

See full schedule below for days, times, and locations.

Green Bandana Project

The Green Bandana Project is a peer support initiative aimed at promoting mental health awareness and providing a visible symbol of support for those struggling with their mental health. By wearing a green bandana, students can show solidarity and offer a non-verbal signal that they are willing to listen and support others in times of need. Join a quick training session and receive your bandana and join in making a difference on our campus!

QPR Suicide Prevention Training

We can all save lives. The QPR Institute‘s mission is to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives by providing innovative, practical, and proven suicide prevention training. The signs of crisis are all around us. We believe that quality education empowers all people, regardless of their background, to make a positive difference in the life of someone they know.

Narcan Training

Taking Narcan training is crucial for anyone who wants to be prepared to save lives. In just a short session, you can learn how to administer Narcan (naloxone), a medication that can reverse opioid overdoses effectively. By gaining this skill, you become equipped to respond swiftly and effectively in emergency situations involving opioid overdose, potentially saving a life in your community.
