This message was sent on March 17, 2020 to CUW students who live in the residence halls from Beckie Kruse, director of Residence Life.

Dear Residence Hall Students,

As you read in the university wide email from President Ferry, due to increasing state guidance regarding the concern of spread of the COVID-19, our residence halls are closing for the rest of the semester.  Although we do not have all of the answers to your questions, we are quickly working to make this transition as smooth as possible.  Listed below are a few items to address some general concerns that you might have.

Students who are currently off campus for Spring Break:

Please do not plan to return to campus this weekend.  Instead wait for communication from your RD with instructions on retrieving your belongings.  In compliance with new federal and state recommendations, Residence Life will make your personal possession recovery a priority.  Currently, our state recommendations include a limitation of no gathering larger than ten people. This means we will need to establish a schedule for small numbers of people to check out at a time.

Students who are currently living on campus for Spring Break:

Students should make plans to leave the halls by 5PM Sunday, March 22, 2020.  Students can use the express check out method as posted in the residence halls.

A small number of students may qualify for approval to remain living on campus if they fit the following general categories. These criteria include:

  • Academic program that requires clinical or other in-person activities
  • International students
  • Difficulty getting home
  • Family concerns or situation hardship (experiencing homelessness, etc.)

Students wishing to apply to stay on campus will be directed to a web form that will be available by 4PM Wednesday March 18th, 2020.

All aspects of university policy are incredibly fluid.  We ask for your patience and understanding in these challenging times.  Please monitor your Concordia email as future communication will continue to be sent to you.

God’s Peace,

Beckie Kruse,

Director of Residence Life
