The annual "Christ the King" celebration Sunday, Nov. 18 will feature selections by The Alleluia Ringers, The Chapel Ringers and Kammerchor, the university's touring voice choir.
The concert, which traditionally marks the end of the church year, begins at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of The Christ Triumphant, 12800 North Lake Shore Drive, Mequon. Dr. Alexa Doebele directs Kammerchor, while Assistant Professor Mark Bloedow conducts both The Chapel Ringers and The Alleluia Ringers. The latter two groups have toured extensively throughout Europe over the past 20 years.
This year marks the 35th annual Christ the King Celebration. Among the selections being performed by The Chapel Ringers is “Sheep May Safely Graze,” from Cantata Number 208, by Johann Sebastian Bach. Flutists Megan Hohnl and Rachel Paul will be featured in the Douglas Wagner arrangement.
The Alleluia Ringers are performing four selections, including “Thanksgiving Fantasia” and “Joyful, Joyful,” featuring pianist Lindsey Bengsch. Kammerchor and The Alleluia Ringers will conclude the 90-minute concert by combining in “Resounding Alleluias,” arranged by D. Linda McKechnie.
Adult tickets are $8, while youths 17 and under are free. Tickets are available for purchase at the door and may be reserved ahead of time by calling the fine arts ticket hotline.
