In an effort to energize middle school level leadership, Concordia University Wisconsin’s School of Education will hold a Middle Level Education Conference Thursday and Friday, March 15-16, on the university’s main campus, 12800 North Lake Shore Drive.
“This workshop is for teachers and leaders who are committed to enriching the lives of their students every day,” noted Dr. Michael Dietz, Coordinator of Innovation and Global Outreach in the School of Education, which is co-sponsoring the event along with the Wisconsin Association for Middle Level Educators (WAMLE).
Keynote presenters include: Dr. Michael Uden, former Dean of Concordia University Wisconsin’s School of Education and Concordia’s new Vice Provost of Student Enrollment & Engagement; Dr. Elliott Moeser, Former Superintendent of the Nicolet School District and current Director of the Closing the Achievement Gap Consortium at Concordia; and Dr. Beth Giles, Director of the Institute for Urban Education at the University of Wisconsin.
Individual workshops will include: Addressing the Needs of Early Adolescents and Those Who Serve Them; Culture That Makes A Difference; and High Performing Middle Grade Schools.
The cost of the two-day conference in Concordia’s Center for Environmental Stewardship is $250 for WAMLE or AMLE professional members, or $325 for non-members or associate members. Participants will earn 14 professional learning contact hours, and all presentations, course materials and four meals are included. “We’re taking on a leadership role with middle level education and professional development that will definitely make a difference,” Dietz noted.
