Teams from four universities in the Concordia University System will put their basketball prowess to the test during the 65th annual Concordia Invitational Tournament to be held in Chicago later this month.

The time-honored men’s and women’s basketball tournament also will include alumni events, worship services, and student activities.

The two-day event will kick off Friday, Jan. 29, with an all-team breakfast at 9 a.m. and an opening chapel service at 11 a.m.

The CUW women’s team will play Concordia Chicago at 6 p.m. Friday. The men will follow with a showdown against Concordia Chicago at 8:15 p.m.

Tickets purchased prior to Wednesday, Jan. 27, on the CUC website are $15; after Jan. 27, tickets are $20.

A limited number of $5 two-day passes are available to CUW students who reserve them through the Student Life Office.

The $5 fee also reserves a spot on one of three, school-organized fan buses. Students can still purchase a $5 ticket and opt out of the bus transportation; however, once a spot is reserved, the student is committed to that reservation.

Buses leave at 2:45 p.m. on Friday and will return that same night. Only students who sign up for the fan bus will be excused from classes after 2 p.m. that day. Saturday’s bus departure times will be determined after Friday’s games.
Sign-up will be Monday, Jan. 25. Sales run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside the Café.
