This week marks National Lutheran Schools Week, an annual celebration that provides the network of more than 2,000 LCMS preschools, elementary schools, high schools, and universities throughout the nation with the opportunity to publicly proclaim and celebrate the good work happening with our schools.

Lutheran schools are amazing incubators for faithful witness of God’s love through Christ by teachers and students alike. Here at CUW, we’re grateful for the Kingdom work of our Lutheran feeder schools and all of the amazing students they nurture before their arrival on our campus.

Lutheran schools have a reputation for offering high-quality education and are amazing incubators of faithful witnesses of God’s love. At all levels, Lutheran education teaches and lives out the Gospel message of God’s salvation through Christ. Here at CUW, this Gospel focus is woven into the fabric of all that we do. We recognize the fruits of this mission in our feeder schools as well through the amazing students they bring to our campus.

In honor of National Lutheran Schools Week this year, Concordia took some time to round up a few of the CUW students who are proud products of area Lutheran high schools.

Q: Why did you choose Concordia University Wisconsin?

I chose Concordia University Wisconsin because it is not like other colleges. Concordia puts a real emphasis on a personalized Christian education, which is not easy to find in this increasingly secular world. The programs are phenomenal, the teachers really care, and everyone seems to have a smile on their face. CUW truly has shown me how to live uncommon, through fellowship and putting others before myself.

Q: Why should someone else from Living Word consider CUW?

If you want to enjoy the same close-knit, Christian community that Living Word offers, then Concordia is for you. Concordia University Wisconsin has teachers that really care about your education and your spiritual faith. There are plenty of programs designed for any major, and the CUW staff will help you get ahead of the competition in whatever vocation you venture into. If you want a unique and memorable college experience, live uncommon at Concordia University Wisconsin.

Q: Name one thing fellow Lutheran high school alums have to try when they become a CUW Falcon.

When you get to CUW, one thing you must do is  go to Christmas at Concordia. Whether you like listening to choirs, the handbells, or the band/orchestra, the level of talent is unparalleled. The church is filled with lots of beautiful christmas decorations that really get you into the Christmas spirit. It is a wonderful CUW event that I would highly recommend going to!

Q: What is a CUW “myth” you’d like to debunk?

One thing I think people from Living Word would be surprised about at Concordia is the level of talent that we bring in being a private Lutheran university. All the professors know what they’re teaching and are experts in their field, our sports teams are all competitive and students are hard-working and want to learn. If you want a school that is full of professors who know what they’re teaching and care about you, then CUW is your college.
