There are many different types of leaders that make up the business landscape in 2020. Do you know which type you are?
Even if you aren’t leading a team right (and even if you haven’t lead a single project yet!), it’s never too early to start developing your leadership skills. In the same vein, if you’ve been leading for years, it’s never too late to re-evaluate your leadership and seek improvement. What worked 20 years ago doesn’t work today. Even what worked just five years ago is already outdated.
Here’s the kicker: leadership has never been stagnant and never will be. It’s one of those things that continues to evolve and change as younger generations enter the workforce, innovation changes the landscape, and new industries emerge.
So, let’s get to improving and growing as everything else around us does the same.
Understanding leadership types
Whatever your prior experience with leadership, you likely have a type that you tend to lean toward. And not all types are created equal. Each type comes with its own strengths and weaknesses, and each type has opportunities for growth.
Today, we’re working from five main types: autocratic, bureaucratic, charismatic, transformational, and servant. While there can be great variances even between these five overarching types, understanding which category you best fit into can help you identify your strengths and weaknesses so you can lead both yourself and your team even more effectively.
After you complete the quiz, you can request a two-page cheat-sheet on your type to see all of your strengths, weaknesses, and growth opportunities in one place.
