For National Principal Month, the Director of Concordia’s Educational Administration program extends her appreciation to area principals.
As the Director of the Educational Administration program at Concordia University Wisconsin, it is with great pride and respect that I acknowledge October as National Principal Month. This month provides us a special opportunity to recognize and celebrate the outstanding work of principals who lead our schools with unwavering dedication and purpose.
Principals are not only the backbone of our schools, but they are also exemplars of servant leadership. They place the needs of students, teachers, and the community above their own, always striving to create nurturing environments where everyone can thrive. Their leadership is focused on service, not power, and this selflessness is evident in the everyday decisions they make to uplift and empower those around them.
One of the most critical roles principals play is in their instructional leadership. They are experts in curriculum and pedagogy, constantly working to enhance teaching and learning within their schools. Principals ensure that teachers have the support, resources, and training they need to provide high-quality instruction, and they guide the academic vision to foster student achievement. Their instructional expertise is pivotal in setting high standards and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
In addition to their role as educational leaders, principals serve as vital connectors between schools, parents, and the larger community. Building relationships with families and community members is central to a principal’s work. Whether engaging parents in school activities, addressing community concerns, or building partnerships to support students, principals strengthen the bonds that make schools the heart of their communities. Their efforts to engage and collaborate with all stakeholders ensure that every child receives the holistic support they need to succeed.
Perhaps most significantly, National Principal Month allows us to reflect on the long hours, tireless effort, and immense dedication that principals bring to their roles. Their days extend well beyond the classroom bell, as they work late into the evening attending events, supporting staff, and planning for future school success. They are often the first to arrive and the last to leave, all while navigating challenges that arise in a fast-paced and ever-changing educational landscape.
This month, and every month, we at Concordia University Wisconsin extend our deepest appreciation to all principals. Your commitment to student success, your leadership in fostering vibrant school cultures, and your tireless work to build strong communities does not go unnoticed. You embody the values of servant leadership, excellence in education, and compassion for the students and families you serve.
