The Batterman School of Business has entered a partnership with ITU AbsorbTech, a service company that aims to help other companies maintain cleaner, safer and more sustainable operations.

In operation since 1930, ITU AbsorbTech is headquartered in New Berlin, WI, and started with brothers Harry and George Leef. Since then, generations of the Leef family have continued the tradition, providing Genuine Service Excellence, process and service innovation, practiced environmental stewardship, and have stayed involved in their communities.

“We’ve been extremely impressed by the mission and values evident at CUW, and we’re looking forward to this new partnership,” says Jim Leef, president and CEO of ITU AbsorbTech.

ITU AbsorbTech has graciously donated money to the School of Business in order to support several things. One of the largest being the Liberty, Faith and Economics Summit, that is held in the fall. Since its first year in 2019, the annual summit has brought in many speakers and guests to discuss
topics such as free enterprise, civil discourse, and market-based approaches to healthcare reform. This donation will also go towards a monument that recognizes those core values of our school – liberty, faith, economics,
and truth. The monument, a bronze eagle, will be placed outside the Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center. The company is also helping and mentoring students while looking to provide internships as well.

“In June, we hired our first intern from CUW,” says Leef. “We’re happy to have Luke onboard, and we see this as the first of many opportunities for ITU AbsorbTech and CUW to come.”

The partnership with ITU AbsorbTech stems from the shared values between both organizations. “We operate under 11 business tenets that encapsulate our core values and beliefs,” says Leef. Some of the company’s core business tenets include safety, sustainability, innovation and excellence in their employees.

Their service programs for textile products create sustainable alternatives to single-use products. Tons of solid waste are diverted from landfills every year by companies with the help of these reuse programs.

They also aim to create a work culture where people feel safe and rewarded. They have multiple employee programs, which support their business tenet of hiring exceptional people and investing in their success. “I can’t overstate the importance of investing in our people,” says Leef. “We intend to remain a company that people are eager to join, can grow and develop professionally, and want to stay for a lifelong career.”

Named a 2020 and 2021 Top Workplace by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, ITU AbsorbTech is recognized among other businesses that offer flexibility, training, and support to their workers, according to the employees themselves. Career opportunities include roles in production, route service & sales, business development, market, IT, customer service, accounting, and administration.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with CUW and invest in the next generation of exceptional and talented people.”
