Happy summer from The Beacon!

Welcome to The Gallery Deck: your guide to affordable events in and around Mequon. Here are some upcoming events to help fill your June calendar.

Cedarburg After 5

This summer downtown Cedarburg is introducing “Cedarburg After 5” on the first Thursdays of June, July, and August. Stop in at Cedarburg Cultural Center’s new night market or explore one of the many local shops and dining establishments. Locations that typically close at 5:00 P.M. or earlier, such as Cream & Crepe Café, The Pink Llama Gallery, or Cedarburg Emporium, will remain open until 8:00 P.M. or later, allowing more time for you to enjoy all the food, shops, and music Cedarburg has to offer. Click here to see a full list of participating businesses.

Paint Cedarburg

Wisconsin’s largest gathering of plein air artists will work in and around Cedarburg from 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 3rd to Wednesday, June 7th. The public is encouraged to watch and interact with the artists as they use their favorite medium to capture Cedarburg’s historical buildings and countryside. Over 165 artists are expected this year. Pieces produced during the event will be available for purchase in the Cedarburg Cultural Center on June 9th and 10th. Visit the Cedarburg Artist Guild’s website to see pieces from previous years.

Summer Sounds

Starting June 16th, enjoy “the biggest-ever picnic in the park” every Friday through Summer Sounds, a free, family-friendly music series hosted in Cedar Creek Park. The concerts begin with an opener at 7:00 P.M. and end by 10:00 P.M. Local food vendors are available, or attendees are welcome to bring food and drinks of their own. This month the lineup includes pop band Yam Haus, blues multi-instrumentalist Eddie 9V, and contemporary brass band The Soul Rebels.

Annual Strawberry Festival

Cedarburg’s Strawberry Festival, voted Best Community Festival by Milwaukee Magazine, returns later this month. Contests, children’s activities, live music, and of course, everything strawberry will be available from 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 24th, and 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 25th.

Farmers Market

Summertime means it’s farmers market season! Everything from yoga sessions to barbeque and pastries, fresh florals and produce, to handmade mugs and sculptures can be found at these weekly open-air markets. Click here to find a farmers market near you and support local business owners.
