Koren Jackson has been working for Milwaukee Public Schools since 1999.


She is currently a special education teacher in Milwaukee’s Transition High School. In that role, Jackson works closely with the GED Option 2 and Competency-Based Learning (CBL) programs.

She also supports adjudicated youth, teen parents, and students who have dropped out and/or have been expelled from a traditional high school.

In addition to teaching and supporting student, Jackson supervises student volunteers each semester working with the Milwaukee Public Schools Special Olympics Program.

Jackson was named one of five 2021 Wisconsin Representative for National Teacher of the Year in September.

— Madelyne Arrigoni is a senior studying English, Mass Communications, and Photography. She plans to graduate in 2022.
