2019/2020 Campus Ministry Leadership Team

Campus Ministry is one of the most active and multifaceted groups at Concordia.

From Bible studies to volunteer opportunities, it is the mission of Campus Ministry to seek the lost, strengthen the saved, and nurture Christian leaders. In conjunction with our campus pastors and other support staff, the Campus Ministry Leadership Team (CMLT)—a team of student leaders who organize and champion the various ministries—is present and prepped to share God’s Word on campus, in the community, and throughout the world.

If you’re a CUW student and you haven’t yet explored a Campus Ministry offering, it’s worth a look! Keep reading to learn about all of the amazing groups you can be a part of.

Looking for a Bible study?

Small Groups: Small Groups offer an excellent opportunity to grow in your faith while having fun building Christian friendships! These groups, which may be made up of men, women, or both, meet weekly to dive deep into God’s Word on topics relevant to college students.

CORE (Conditioning Our Run Eternally): CORE unites CUW athletes and non-athletes alike for fellowship centered on God’s Word with a weekly Bible study.

CHAT (Conversation Happens All the Time): CHAT brings American and international students together, providing a great opportunity for all involved to get to know new people and cultures. CHAT hosts a weekly Bible study and plans several fun events throughout the year.

Looking for a place to hang?

The Hiding Place: The Hiding Place provides a relaxed atmosphere for students to hang out, play games, hear live music, study or meet with a small group Bible study.  This off-campus coffee house ministry, located in the basement of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Mequon, opens on Saturday evenings from 7-10 pm.

The Haven: Haven is the place to be every Sunday night for refreshing encouragement in your faith.  Come experience energetic music led by one of our Haven bands, reflective prayer time, and a powerful message. Due to COVID restrictions, Haven is held either in the chapel or, weather permitting, in the chapel courtyard at 4 pm.

Looking for a great group of ladies/guys to grow with?

BUILD (Brothers United in Life & Devotion): BUILD is a great way for CUW men to focus on building and strengthening each others’ faith through God’s Word and other “manly things”.

LIGHT (Ladies in God’s Hands Together): LIGHT is an opportunity for CUW women to encourage one  another in their faith through various activities and retreats centered on God’s Word.

Looking to serve those in the Milwaukee area?

Street Team: Street Team creates awareness and reaches out to the homeless and others in Milwaukee’s inner city through weekly service events.

Nursing Home Ministry: Nursing Home Ministry brings joy to nursing home residents through visiting, playing games, singing and sharing devotions. Even with COVID restrictions, Nursing Home Ministry continues to serve by writing cards to brighten a resident’s day.

Prison Ministry: Prison Ministry encourages and witnesses to individual prisoners through a letter-writing exchange. This is an easy and low commitment way to share Jesus with someone who really needs it.

Looking to broaden your world view?

Students for Life: Students for Life actively promotes the sanctity of life both on campus and off through various activities, including involvement with A Place of Refuge in Milwaukee, and the March for Life in Washington, D.C. They meet weekly to hear from speakers and plan their events.

Beautiful Feet: Beautiful Feet encourages and supports missions around the world.  In addition to praying for, encouraging, and connecting with missionaries from around the world, students attend an engaging mission conference each fall.  Concordia Universities around the country take turns hosting the Beautiful Feet conference, which includes engaging speakers and hands-on mission experiences for students interested in short or long-term missions.

Spring Break Mission Trip: Travel over Spring Break to help others in need! Past trips have included building or improving homes for the poor in Mexico, Guatemala, New Orleans, and Appalachia.  Fundraise in the fall, learn new skills as we go and experience something life-changing and unforgettable.

Looking to share Jesus with some kiddos?

Youth Ministry (Y-Min): Y-Min shares the love of Christ with youth by leading exciting overnight lock-ins at area churches. This group also meets weekly to play fun games and learn about how to best serve youth.

C.I.A. (Children of God in Action): C.I.A. allows students the opportunity to share the love of Jesus with children in the area by hosting fun activities throughout the year, such as a Fall Festival, a Christmas gift drive, and an Easter event.

God’s Production Company: God’s Production Company shares the love of God at local congregations by leading fun weekend morning events. Students lead games, crafts, and skits while building relationships with those in attendance.

Looking to help out with chapel?

Worship Committee helps our campus pastor with the services on campus. CUW offers Sunday morning worship at 10:00 am, Daily Chapel at 9:30 am and various evening services. Students may volunteer to usher, set-up, clean, make banners, decorate for the seasons of the church year, and more.
