A New Year is upon us, and soon, a new semester will be here as well. It’s times like these that make us take a moment to reflect on all that we’ve accomplished…or perhaps, failed to accomplish.

I will soon be entering my final semester here at Concordia and it’s definitely made me feel a bit reflective. I’ve loved my time at Concordia, but with mere months left until I graduate, I can’t help but wish I took advantage of a few more things. Thankfully, I do have a few months to squeeze in some Concordia “musts” and I wanted to give each of you the opportunity to join me as well.

I asked some of the seniors who are in my shoes what is on their list. Check out what they had to say:

Bennett Reisler

Major: Secondary Education-Social Studies
Hometown: Bonduel, WI

Getting involved with campus ministries is great because it really rounds out your CUW experience. With Haven for example, you get fellowship with peers, the chance to praise Jesus and make music, and a way to branch out and meet new people while doing so.

Exploring the area is also a must. There’s so many cool parks, nature spots, coffee shops, and local stores that you can miss if you don’t take time to get to know the area around CUW. Branching into Milwaukee is fun, but there’s also so much to do in the Mequon, Cedarburg, Grafton areas that is cheap and provides cool experiences!

Caroline Hagan

Major: Speech Language Pathology
Hometown: St. Louis, MO

In general, I think that I really tried to make the most out of my time at Concordia, but here are a few things that I wish had gotten the chance to do or wish that I had done sooner.

I wish that I had studied abroad. I love traveling, and I think that it would have been so fun to get to experience a different culture. I also wish that I had gone on a Spring Break mission trip. I wish that I would have gone to more sporting events like football and hockey. Lastly, I wish that I had joined a Bible study sooner. It’s a great opportunity for fellowship and to spend time in God’s Word.

Zach Reineke

Major: Secondary Education – Math
Hometown: Antigo, WI

I wish I would have gotten involved with a church right away in my CUW days and made it my home. I think having a constant church all four years and being able to get involved and make relationships with the people there would have been cool.

Major: Marketing
Hometown: Marquette, MI

Looking back over the past years, I wish that I would have explored the area surrounding CUW earlier. Places like the Third Ward of Milwaukee, Port Washington, and downtown Cedarburg are very unique and have a lot to offer! They are something that everyone should check out while here at Concordia!
