One could say the Maynards are a true legacy family here at Concordia University. Not only did Judy graduate from our Ann Arbor campus in 1981, but her daughters along with husband, Mike, graduated from our Wisconsin campus. Together, Judy and Mike, as well as Sarah (’15) and Brittany (’14), espouse Concordia’s values, especially service to others.
In fact, this has motivated Judy and Mike to support the university through their gifts to the Concordia Fund.
“Concordia University in Mequon and Ann Arbor hold a special place in Judy’s and my heart,” Mike said. “The education is outstanding as well as the spiritual growth. Concordia offers an opportunity to grow in an environment that fosters an individual path that has professors not only teaching, but mentoring.”
Mike, who owns Angel Food Catering, Inc., in Belleville, Mich, with Judy, said he appreciated the Christian education his daughters received at CUW. Sarah earned a degree in nursing, while Brittany earned hers in arts and sciences. They both participated in athletics on campus.
“Sports was important to our girls,” Mike said. “Cross Country for the ladies was fun and rewarding. Both campuses (CUW and CUAA) have great athletic venues, which help the teams as well as the fans.”
The Maynards’ gifts to Concordia create a legacy for current and future Concordians.
“It is an honor for Judy and I to be a part of supporting Concordia University with our gifts,” Mike said. “God is so good; we want that opportunity for other young people to experience a great education in a Christian environment.”
We hope you will join the Maynards in supporting the Concordia Fund by becoming inaugural members of the Concordia Cornerstone Society. The CCS is part of an effort to raise awareness of the Concordia Fund’s unrestricted gifts to help impact the immediate needs of our students. By making an unrestricted, cumulative gift of $1,000 or more on a fiscal year basis (July to June) to the Concordia Fund, a donor will become a member of the CCS.
