Two Concordia University Wisconsin music education alumni were honored this year for their exemplary teaching.

For the second time in his teaching career, Ben Simmerman (’08) received the Educator of the Year award for Boyceville High School, which is located in northwestern Wisconsin. He previously received the award in 2016.

Simmerman, who began teaching in 2009, recently completed his sixth year at Boyceville. He is a vocal and general music teacher and drama advisor in the Boyceville Community School District.

A second 2008 alum, Tiffany Koenitzer, was named Gaston Elementary School’s 2018 Teacher of the Year. She was honored at the Beloit School District’s Knight of Distinction awards night on May 4.

Koenitzer has served as a general music educator in Beloit since 2011.
