Fall on campusFall on campus

With Fall comes pumpkins, cold weather and scarves, and of course, the 2019-2020 FAFSA.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or the FAFSA, opened on October 1st, 2018 for the 2019-2020 Academic Year. Whether you’re a new or returning student, you’re encouraged to complete your FAFSA sooner rather than later to ensure eligibility for all aid. Consider FAFSA your first step in receiving financial aid.

The FAFSA is your application for any Federal and/or State aid you might be eligible for. When you file, ED is notified about your interest in Federal Aid. Once ED sends your information over to our office, we’ll review any next steps as well as your financial aid eligibility. You can then expect an Award Letter either mailed or emailed for you to review.

While you can expect the FAFSA to be consistent over the years, this year is a little different  (the good kind of different). The FAFSA is now (finally!) accessible on your mobile device! We know, we can’t believe it either. Download the myStudentAid app and see for yourself.

If you haven’t completed your FAFSA before or not sure where to go, visit www.fafsa.ed.gov or download the app to get started. You’ll find helpful FAFSA information, common application questions, and even future announcements.

FAFSA Tips:

  • The 2019-2020 FAFSA will utilize 2017 tax information
  • School codes:
    • Concordia Mequon school code: 003842
  • Make sure that you have a separate FSA ID for both you and your parent before starting your FAFSA:
    • If you have already completed your FAFSA, no problem! You’ll use the FSA ID/password from the previous FAFSA.
  • Common FAFSA Questions

Be sure to complete your FAFSA each year! Without it, neither ED nor our office knows you are interested in Financial Aid.

So grab your pumpkin spice latte, cozy up by the fire and fill out your FAFSA.
