Concordia University Wisconsin will open its 137th academic year and its 35th year in Mequon with a traditional Opening Service on Sunday, August 27 at 10 a.m. The service will be held in the university’s Chapel of the Christ Triumphant, 12800 North Lake Shore Drive.

The Rev. Dr. Jamison Hardy, a Concordia alumnus and President of the English District of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, will serve as guest preacher. Founded in 1881 on Milwaukee’s near west side at the historic Trinity Lutheran Church, Concordia moved its campus from downtown Milwaukee to Mequon in 1982.

This year’s academic theme, “Gifted by Grace, Prepared for His Purpose,” was chosen by student campus ministry leaders last April.

Undergraduate students can select from 71 majors in six schools of study. Twenty-eight graduate degree programs are offered, along with doctorates in nursing practice, occupational therapy, pharmacy, and physical therapy. The first semester begins Monday, August 28.
