Not really sure who you want to room with leading in to your second, third, or even fourth year of school? Don’t worry! It happens to everyone. Either you’re a freshman looking to live with someone new, all of your current friends are moving off campus, you only have two people and need to fill a room for four, or whatever other reason there is to be looking for a new roommate, Concordia provides an event to help you meet other students who are also looking for a person or people to live with. It is called the Roommate Roundup, and it provides games and activities to encourage students to talk to other people and get to know them with the possibility of becoming roommates or suite mates.
At the event, current RA’s lead the activities. How they did it was they had four corners of the room labelled by colors, and on the projector they put four possible replied to rooming-type questions, such as: “What time do you like to go to bed?” or “Where do you hang out with people the most?” The different answers to these questions led like-minded people to the same area for the coming game, so they could see who had similar habits that would be conducive for living. After the game was played for a few minutes, like telephone or other short get-to-know-ya games, they asked other questions and did the same thing for a while. The best part was that at the end they did a raffle drawing for the first three slots to pick housing. It was a good chance to see who was looking for a roommate or two and what they were like. So, if you’re a heading towards a new year and don’t know who live with, don’t worry. You will find someone.
