This week is international student week here on campus, so to start it off, we had a special chapel this morning to commemorate all the international students here on campus. We first had a song by Deaconess Kim speaking of being one under the same name of Christ, then we got a great message from Dr. David Birner speaking about how all of us have been given a heart of travel. He pointed us to the story of Paul, but started the story when he was Saul. Saul had the heart to travel, ready to do what he needed to do with all the right documents in hand, but his itinerary was changed quite a bit on his way to Demascus. Jesus appeared to him and changed his entire world. The heart of travel was definitely still apart of Paul, but now his purpose was completely different. Now he was traveling to spread the good news of the Gospel throughout the world. Now, Dr. Birner encourages us to do the same. We all have the heart to travel, but because of what Jesus did for us, all of our itineraries have changed; changed to having the purpose of spreading the good news to those who haven’t heard it yet. The end of the service was extremely special as he called all the nations which we have students from, and as he called them, a CUW student would bring a flag representing that nation to the front. At the end, the entire front was covered in people holding flags from various countries around the globe. What a great opportunity we have here at Concordia to spread the Gospel to those who might not have heard it. Not only are we called to go out, but they also are coming here!
