This weekend, Saturday was not the day to sleep in. It was about 8:15 when I was bumped awake by my brother to go to a BUILD event about ten minutes from campus. BUILD is a men’s ministry here on campus that hosts the men’s retreat as well as other events. LIGHT is the women’s group on campus and does the same thing for them. At times, they like to combine and do some things together! For example, on a day near Valentine’s day, BUILD held an event for the women of LIGHT where they made and served them dinner at a local church. It was a huge event where about forty or more women came. This Saturday was the time for LIGHT to serve the men a nice breakfast. It wasn’t quite as big due to the time of day they held it (not many people are willing to wake up at that time during the weekend!). This event was titled Flapjacks with Feiertag because we were joined by Professor Feiertag to do a short devotion. It was a great morning, starting with just socializing for a little bit while the ladies finished up the breakfast. Once it was ready, they graciously brought it down, set it up, and we then buffet-styled it through getting some hash browns, eggs, bacon, pancakes, and fruit. Once we were basically done eating and talking, Professor Feiertag took over and did about a 45-minute devotion, speaking on the foolish things we do, what we are warned not to do in Ephesians 5, and the things we should be doing instead. We then helped the women clean up, and we were out, with both our bodies and our hearts filled after a great start to our Saturday!
